Havent been active in the forums or bought anything in the last half year (busy summer) but I took a chance on this one lately with bad pictures. I was more than pleased when it arrived. Good price too!

Bolt M/M but I don't mind. Bolt is out of a byf 44. Rear sight slide lock bar is mismatched but correctly 359 proofed. Factory mismatch? Possible blood spots on the underside of the forend of the stock and on the butt. The one on the butt runs from the top, down the right side and ends on the heel. What do you guys think?

Beautiful 36! One of the best I've seen, absolutely love it! Bolt wouldn't bother me at all on that one.

I agree with the others, a very fine example and quite elusive this original, - the bolt is a real shame, it would have doubled its value, very hard to find fully matching & original.

Really nice pictures too, - covered it all pretty much!

Man oh man that's a nice one! I know a good home for it should you find yourself a matching one some day :) Great addition.

Nice gun!!! The bolt m/m wouldn't bother me at all. And I agree that looks like blood on the stock.

Great looking rifle! Perhaps a bit morbid, but I think the possible blood stains add to the history. You may have to issue a warning though to anyone who may be squeamish prior to them handling the rifle!

I would imagine that most vet bring backs did one (or all) of three things.

1. Set in the back of the closet
2. Was proudly displayed in a gun rack, or over a fireplace (for awhile).
3. Served as a deer rifle.

My s/147/g did 2 & 3.

When I bought it from the vets son he said he was selling it because he wanted a Savage .22/.410 and the Gun case was full and he needed an empty spot for the Savage and some cash to buy it with.

With the gun and helmet came 1 half full box of Winchester 8MM Ammo as it was the designated deer rifle for many a year.

That being said...it is quite possible the blood may well be that of a game kill, and not human @ all....I'm just sayin.
