Reblue a k98k, who can?

I have an all matching (sans the mag floor plate) CE41 that was defiently neglected and put away wet. If I were ever to have it refinished, who could do this and make it look the closest to the original bluing?

Yes, I know, once done it will ruin it, etc, etc, etc. Sure, we can have that debate all day long. Still, I were to keep it as my only k98k shooter, and I wanted to make it better for me, who would be the go to smith?

Up to you, a reblue will take away value and authenticity but thats your choice

With the stock redone, I think we are past the authenticity point. Also, this is a shooter, given its current condition. I picked up a nice, externally unnumbered Sauer stock, and was thinking of getting the metal redone and dropping it in that.

Well, it really costs to play and it turns a surplus rifle into a Mitchel look alike. Classic has their RCs sent to James River Armory. Miltech and Turnbull do good work, if that is your cup of tea! Maybe some of your local gun shops are known for their work.

Yeah I've gone back and forth on this. As much as I would like mine to look factory new, erased the battlefield look off been there done that with no way bringing it back. Learned to love the thinning splotchy finish

I’d disassemble it and boil it in some distilled water for a half hour or longer.
Wait till the parts are dry or use a heat gun.
Then card the metal with 0000 steel wool or a SPECIFIC CARDING WHEEL.
