Rarity of a S/42G?

I got offered an S/42G K98 that matched the floor plate. I was wondering what the market rate would be. It does not look refinished, and it is in good condition.

Also, what's the reasoning behind a non-matching floorplate? Possibly a rework? It also does not have import marks, nor is an "X" for RC's present. If there's anything else I'm missing, I can try and see if I get photos before I make the trip to get it. I was initially suspicious of this rifle mainly due to it looking completely fine. The gentleman also has a DOU 42 that I have not seen yet, which I will post photos of soon.

Thanks!

Hi, see that number « 9820 » on the stock ? It says « capture » just like an « X » on the receiver or electro penciled numbers

Don’t. It is OK to miss something. And it’s right to post before you buy.
Yeah, it happens. I know other things like the back of my hand... I'm no expert at users yet lol.

The only other guess I'd have is if its an RC... with no import marks, could it be a Vietnam-era bring back? The only problem is no papers or anything.

I would guess it was imported before 1960 something, whatever year it was when import markings were mandated.

That’s more plausible than a Vietnam bring back, not that it’s impossible of course.

I never saw Russian captures over here before the fall of the USSR in the early 90's. Could be the stamp was forgotten or very inconspicuously placed?

Side note. Sometimes matching guns could be missing matched floor plate because they had a 22 conversion installed and the plate became lost.
