Hey guys,

So today I picked up a BNZ 43 single rune barrel/receiver/bolt with NO IMPORT MARK...the bolt is a M/M but the reciever/barrel match...and the rear sight is 6933 while the reciever/barrel are 6938...I believe this is a factory error considering there are no letter suffixes on either. Check it out and let me know what you think. I am in the process of finding an unmarked stock and barrel bands to restore this thing.

Oh yeah, I picked it up for $280 locally.

Details:

Reciever: BNZ (large font) 43 Single Rune, serial number, firing proof (no swastika), no other waffenamts
Barrel: NO serial, code is ak W (bullseye) Bo, waffenamt e/623
Rear sight: serial numbers on both base and sight itself...no waffenamts near serials but 2 on the base.
No waffenamts anywhere else

the rear sight Im sure is just a factory error.. Not that it matters much.. An un-marked steyr stock might turn up. Check ebay or the member here us1945 on the trader he just picked up another batch of stocks from Norway.. It's a real single rune. With one of the many variations of BNZ 43 receivers that show up. This one with its heavy grind marks and glossy finish is one of my favorites..

It is definitely not a walk in the park to find an unmarked stock that would be correct for this I am quickly finding out. Same goes for the bands.

I feel as if the factory error with the rear sight adds some coolness to it, I don't know how collectors would feel.

. . . . I feel as if the factory error with the rear sight adds some coolness to it, I don't know how collectors would feel.

I agree . . . .

I have an all-matching-numbered "42"-code, 1938-vintage, K98, serial #423i . . . .

It's a vet bring-back that also has, what I believe to be, a factory "error" in that the bolt stop is numbered 28 . . . not 23!

I'm guessing that the most confused digits would be the "3" and the "8" on the factory floor.

I know I've confused them when in dim light or in too much of a hurry! --Jim
