Can’t improve on that one Dave. Did you ever find a rifle?
Still looking Rick , IMO this is the rarest and hardest SSR to find . I know of 2 surviving examples both in European Collections .
This is my Grail SSR for sure . Maybe one day .

The leather box is a FISCHER berlin 2 from 1939 it is the main manufacturer of leather cases for the police enlarges the image I know that my photos are not great well I have nothing better right now I also have a SCHAMBACH from 1939 in a leather box but for me it is much more common if they can talk about current !!!

this 237 /1938 rifle is all S/N and I tried to mount my 5 other SSR scopes with original short rail, the pecar is the only one that mounts well so I deduce that it is a police SSR when do you think ???

I would want to see more pictures of the base with the stock removed, as well as the stock cutout. If I remember correctly, the Police sniper rifles per period documents are supposed to have an additional marking on the receiver ring ... @Amberg would know for sure.

yes the rail was installed on the rifle and it has been there for a long time seen the dust that was in the milling of the wood it is indeed curious that this rail is not at the same number as the rest of the rifle I would take pictures tomorrow once disassembled double of this answer to DAVE
