opinion on DGFM FMAP Argentine Mauser

what is the opinion on the the DGFM FMAP Argentine Mauser in 7.65x53, looks like in good condition, great bore, 1950s Argentine production in white steel w red oiled mannlicher Stock. Worth taking one in a a good price? What is the right price and have these been 'soft' not sufficiently heat treated? Thanks

The Argentine made 1909’s are excellent rifles and there is no reason to doubt the metallurgy of them. I’ve seen a number of them used for custom rifles in 270 and 30.06 with no problems.
Actually, the same goes for the DWM versions, but we don’t want to open that can of worms!

ok, thanks, I just keep finding references that people re-cabonize them and harden etc, staying below certain pressures may be the way to go, or would you say the rifle is as strong as any of the German made ones?

I do really like the hinged floor plate and it seems very well made.

Make sure you check that it is still 7.65x53 as a lot of them were re-chambered to 30.06 in the US

Don't worry about all the crap you read about them on the internet, just use sensible loads in the 50K psi range and you are good to go.
 
Also check the firing pin hole isn't chewed out.
I had a number of these actions in otherwise excellent condition that had badly eroded FP holes from leaking primers.

I have 2 DWMs & 1 FMAP, no problems with any of them. Like Metal, I reload for them, but also shoot factory PPU ammo out of all 3. Sounds like you’re describing a cavalry carbine, these are the most commonly found today, though there were G98 length rifles in the original contract w/DWM in larger numbers than the carbines. I believe that the Argentines made the carbines only. (but may be wrong on that).
 
Thanks everyone, he is asking a little much but I am thinking to offer 500, right price? Stock has 2 deep dings but other wise great, very very dark red oiled.
