Opinion on authenticity

I am considering purchasing this rifle from someone locally. They say that it is an original non-RC K98 with repro sling and original non-matching 1939 bayonet. My main concern is the marking beneath the serial on the left side looks like a RC marking to me. However, I wanted to see what some of the experts here think about this rifle and if it appears to be a correct original rifle.

That marking on the left side of the receiver is the letter block. It looks like a 't' to me. Not an RC 'X'. That front band looks a little weird to me however.

I'm not very good with re-done numbers, whereas others are great at it. However, I have to totally agree, the front band numbers just don't look right to me as well (again, I'm awful at re-number items) but....it just doesn't look right. However, there are many others on this site who are great at picking up re-done S/N and they'll let you know for sure.

Something funny about the front band for sure. Compare the 2s on the band to others on the rifle and look at the front bands on 42 Sauers in pictures section. I thought 42 Sauers had the small bolt take down disk too. The color of the stock looks odd. I'll defer to the more knowledgeable folks around here, K98ks just aren't my big specialty.
