I was able to get this Objective Mount Sniper Rifle from a Good Friend and fellow collector .
The Base rifle is a 243/1939 from what Bruce has told me .

Excellent rifle and pictures Dave. Thanks for sharing. You do not see many of those.

One that's " right "

Pretty rare rifle actually, and I’ve only seen them in the hands of the Waffen SS. I only heard of 4 when I was looking for examples for the book, I’m sure there are more but they aren’t easy to find.

Neat rifle Dave. I wonder if these can be found because they belonged to the SS and the SS had a habit of hoarding stuff. Seems like early Heer snipers (Short Side rail or Turret) just simply don't exist. The Objective Mount is super rare but a few can be found. Just a thought.

Thanks for sharing!

They were made by Greifelt in Suhl, but if they are all SS I wonder where they got the K98k rifles from and were not made up on Gew98 conversions. Your other OM rifle is 1938 date, right? So based on this they would pre-date the SSR mount.

Due to their "commercial mount" I think most of them were sportered post WWII in Europe. The mount is quite popular so any scope could had been fitted, and it doesn't have any deaths heads or runes on it.

Glad you finally have it in your hands, congratulations to it!

Pretty easy Brian, Greifelt & Co. marking on all original OM scopes.

Man that was too easy. I don’t have one of those scopes. I’m going to have to get one and thanks for the info. Do you have a photo of that marking?

How can we say for certain that the rifles were assembled there? Just because the scope parts are from Greifelt does not necessarily mean the rifles were assembled as snipers there. These snipers are still a big mystery.

Thanks for the pictures of the company logo. That company made the mounts for sure. Maybe they assembled them as well. Would be easy for them to do. That is an unknown I think, unless there is more to this.
