New to me DSM34

Picked up a Mouser DSM34 and the stock forearm has not been drilled for the upper band (it’s there) retaining pin (missing). Also, the stock and handguard numbers match but are significantly higher (6000) than the otherwise matching and hi quality rifle. Is it likely this was a factory stock replacement or done by someone else?

would need to see photos.. If you are having issues posting photos PM me and I can try to help.. Only mauser stamped ser # into the wood like on the k98k. The rest didnt bother or used pencil.

I can post pictures but don’t see a need given the nature of my question. Your response helps as the stock and handguard are also Mauser made. Rifle SN is 7K range, Stock SN in 13K range. Now I’m thinking that since the stock was not drilled for the front band pin but was serialed, it must have been sent out on a later rifle so who knows how it turned up on my rifle still undrilled. Good thing that front band is a snug fit. I also got a sling with square buckle and one hole but it is very worn and has been broken and sewn crudely. Any info on sling measurements and construction would be appreciated.

a pic is worth a thousand words that's why. Why the hole wasnt drilled is anyone's guess. I have never seen an original stock that wasnt. Sling is standard. In a pinch a k98k sling will work.
trainer sling has an H buckle with three holes typically for catching the stud in the stock.
