NEED HELP - Late1944 BCD 4 Phosphate "Y" Block - Do These Bolt Components Look Legitimate???

Dear Forum Experts,

Can you please give me some help with your expertise on a late1944 Phosphate BCD 4 "Y" Block?
Serial number = 4168 y.

Do these markings on these bolt components look good in your eyes? I looked at the various markings on the other BCD 4 "Y" block rifles that are "Picture Reference" forum and they seemed to validate this rifle's markings as being legit. However, I am not at your level of expertise and, thus, asking for your opinion as I do not trust mine.

I also referred to the BNZ section in Bruce's two volume K98k book set (which I purchased a few years back) and it allowed me to investigate this BNZ rifle further. The rifle seems to be legit when compared to the book's details.

The pictures are poor as they are off a seller's site.......sorry....

I really question the firing proof on the back of the bolt handle. The proof is there, but it is not crisp and it looks like someone painted over it. I do not know if the phosphate process would blot this out unless the proof was lightly struck? You have seen many proofs under the phosphated finish so you will know if this looks ok.

Thanks for any help that you can provide. I appreciate it very much and am glad to be a member of this great forum!!

Regards, ~Bob

Looks good to me. Those pictures suck, though. Do you have the rifle, or are those pics from a seller?

Those pics are crappy and it doesn’t look like the characteristic Steyr font but much was going on with Steyr at that time. So far I’m OK with it, pending better pics.

That's a Gustloff bcd4 'y' block, not a bnz4.
Sorry Bruce and all- my error this is not a BNZ but is a BCD 4. I changed my write-up to BCD....

Bruce, Thanks for your help. Do the BCD 4 bolt components look good or should I stay away?

Thanks

That makes sense, the font is correct, and the bolt parts look right, except for a bcd, not a bnz 4. There was crossover finishing of bcd receivers but by bnz of bcd, not the other way that I can recall (i.e., receiver finished by Gustloff). Again, looks right, just not for a bnz finished K98k. Pics.

Hambone,
Thank you. What range would you pay given the the stock, metal and all other parts look not messed with and good?

korea1950, we could use a pic or pics of the stock.
In that range, some chatter with lots of sanding marks, E/H on right side of stock rear of disk.

Bruce, Hambone,
Thanks for your help. Here are the stock pictures, etc. in the 2 following posts.

Bruce & Hambone - Here are the rest of the pictures that I was able to load. Can you please let me know your opinion on this BCD 4 Y Block and what you think it is worth to pay for it.........a range that you think is reasonable.
Many, many thanks, Bob

I screwed up. I know that you were thinking the
BCD given the data I gave.

Any range of values that you think I should pay for this,?
Thx

I did not as I followed Bruce and Hambone's recommendations to look for an unmolested one (no sanded stock, etc.). In the end it sold for $1905 before taxes and shipping so you would be over $2k. Bruce thought $1700 would he a good top value to pay for it..
It was a decent K98k, but my best strategy is to seek an unmolested one from a member of this forum that passes the muster of Bruce, Hambone, etc. Which will make me happier in the long run.
Bruce and Hambone were so nice to help me look over this K98k on a Sunday. I appreciated this very much.
Hey, thanks for your interest in this story that unfolded yesterday.
My best, Bob
