Recently acquired the named G APPEL (64 code WaA20) Rg34. Already had an example, but from the photos, this one had "the look" of a bring-back. Found it listed on a auction site from a seller in Virginia offering ephemera, primarily women's items, some collectibles, etc. Seller item description was brief but spot-on. Name etched on the tin is
"A Grondx" (Oder "Grondy" mit umlaut uber "o"). Kit appears to have been together a long time, but is also mixed. The oiler is a MUNDLOS | 1937. RGK is "G APPEL" and steel bead links and maybe patch loop looks blued to me. HKW is unattributed and appears transitional... still having a oar-like appearance and defined patch loop. Am guessing 1940-41. Brushes are typical brown bristles. There were traces of the waxy wood protectant in the otherwise empty patch compartment, so threw in a few strands of gewehrwatte for good measure. Overall, a nice example and price being quite reasonable, picked it up...
