My First German Pistol; Mauser HSC 4th Variation

Picked this up off a local Texas trader. Never been interested in handguns but the price was fair and what better way to learn some new info than branching out. From my research, it looks to be a latter 4th variation due to the "3 line" marking. I find it interesting so many different designs were pressed into service by the Germans.

Thanks guys. I know it’s nothing special but a decent starter piece. Love the way it feels in the hand. Better than the few other German pistols I’ve handled. After a quick field strip, It looks as if the barrel matches but the slide is numbered 700. seems the last “0” looks like a unfinished 6 on the electro pencil. Perhaps it could a mismatched slide but the barrel is matching. Not sure what the cleaning practices were or how slides could be mixed up with a number so close.

I personally never cared for the HSC... until I owned one. I sadly sold my shooter when we bought our new house but do miss it. They fit the hand well, little recoil and something about that “hammer” I loved pulling back! Enjoy her, they are a great gun!
