My BNZ45 T block

I had been looking for a T block bnz45 and found this one. It’s matching numbers in walnut. I love that you can see some subtle tiger striping in the wood. Always love the crude looking parts. This one didn’t have screws for the bands but it looks like someone drilled a small hole under the rear band to try to hold it on. Other than that really like it.

Really nice! I love the defects in the lumber, especially in the bolt handle cutout. Sling notch too kind of. I also see you got the pin punch on the bolt root.

What's the significance of the pin punch? Never noticed but it looks like both my S and T block rifles have it as well.

Great looking rifle Caesar! I think this is the first BNZ45 I've seen with some tiger striping on it. Love the chattering on the action on these late ones. Are there any stamps in the sling cutout? Both of mine have a 3 stamped into them, nothing jumping out from your close up

Rockwell hardness test. This is typical of metal parts. I'm not sure what the Germans called it but here its call the Rockwell hardness test. Despite the crudeness these were held to a useable standard.

Great rifle ! glad you finally found nice enough and reasonable..

Makes sense! I have seen diamond shape indentations for hardness testing when I was doing microscopy but maybe that was vickers

That’s an absolute beauty. Really nice tone to the phosphate and I love the ring under the “Mod 98”. Looks like no final acceptance or proof? I think lots of these factory guns were found w/o screws and unfortunately folks have “completed” some of the guns assuming they were lost. I also got a chance to see but missed buying a late T walk-in years ago at Allentown that had the
Lower band held in from the bottom like this so I wouldn’t assume it’s not original. Really nice. I’ve got a bunch of late steyrs but still need one of theses factory guns.

Thanks, I have a small late war collection going, I have been looking for the elusive svw and svwmb
