MKb42(H) sold at Auction

Kinda surprised this hasn't been posted here yet but a MKB42(H) sold at auction last week for a whopping $116k with fees included. It did look like a nice one but something I'll never realistically afford. I bet reproductions of this would sell out near instantly!

The barrel pin and several rivets behind it look well worked.

That’s part of the issue. If you look closely you will see that the barrel has been replaced. The rivet that holds it in place is not correct. That means that the barrel is a commercial barrel. The contour is different than the Mp-44 series.

The description doesn’t mention that it’s even matching. The new registered serial number on the receiver may indicate a rebuilt parts kit? Ouch!

The barrel on their gun has seen the barrel replaced. I don’t know how it would be possible to source an original replacement barrel, other than having one made by a commercial manufacturer. The Mp-44 barrel has a step in the middle, so they couldn’t use one of them. The stg 5266 as the ser# is a red flag too, in my opinion.

Do you track prices for these? If so, do you have any historical sales for MKb42s for comparison?

I don’t track the prices per se, but if you search back over the last decade or so with morphy’s/julia’s/rock island’s past auctions you will see similar examples have sold for 150k and higher. Rock island just had this one in August and it brought 164k and change, albeit with the scope as well.

I remember seeing pictures of a pile of them.... all in Syria. We need to repeal the NFA and bring them here. No such luck though.
