Wow, that realized price! I wonder if this is a high for any gun of that series?
 
That’s part of the issue. If you look closely you will see that the barrel has been replaced. The rivet that holds it in place is not correct. That means that the barrel is a commercial barrel. The contour is different than the Mp-44 series.
 
The barrel on their gun has seen the barrel replaced. I don’t know how it would be possible to source an original replacement barrel, other than having one made by a commercial manufacturer. The Mp-44 barrel has a step in the middle, so they couldn’t use one of them. The stg 5266 as the ser# is a red flag too, in my opinion.

Do you track prices for these? If so, do you have any historical sales for MKb42s for comparison?
I don’t track the prices per se, but if you search back over the last decade or so with morphy’s/julia’s/rock island’s past auctions you will see similar examples have sold for 150k and higher. Rock island just had this one in August and it brought 164k and change, albeit with the scope as well.
