Well that was ShooterIke's go to reference for anything so there's that endorsement. It’s a decent book. I got a few years ago at the Max Show before the prices went crazy for this book. It helped me with info.

I don’t know ShooterIke. I’m guessing not a glowing recommendation. It’s not a perfect book, but there is not a lot out there to choose from in this area of expertise in regards to MG34/42. It’s better than nothing. Honestly you could probably learn more by going to shows and asking people about MG34/42 stuff. I enjoyed the book. Was it $300 worth of fun? Maybe I guess.Well that was ShooterIke's go to reference for anything so there's that endorsement.
When you receive it, would you please describe the contents or take some pics ? I would like to know more about these guns, but wonder if the book is worth it. Thanks.Found
Thank you
Thanks !
Appreciate the offer. Did he have a price ? Anytime i can get ny hands on collector series is nice. Especially if its not out of print prices.I had dinner with the author last week. He still has some bundles of volume 1 and volume 2 available. Since the publisher died and his company gone away, there will be no more reprints. I can put anyone in touch with him that is interested. He has some spare volume 2s, but will only sell 1 as part of the bundle.
If anyone has some specific errors to point out let me know and I’ll pass them along for clarification. Volume 2 was an appendix to the first, adding more info and I suppose correcting anything that was missed.

I also have this (Dattenblätter from 1944):

As a comparison, the price of a K98k was 65-70 RM, average work time 3 months, work hours 20 hours
Good question: given the 3 months for a K98k, I would say that « Fertigungszeit » is work time over the entire process from start (production of a barrel blank) to finish (final assembly), not just the assembly time at the manufacturer.Work time, does that mean from start of production to a gun going out the door? Or does it mean expected combat lifespan?
Thanks, it looks interesting. Are you the author or related to him ?I would like to add the book “Waffen-Anatomie: Das Maschinengewehr 34” by Alexander Geckeler as a valuable reference.
It was published in Germany last year. The book contains all the surviving construction drawings of the MG 34 - the book fills over 200 pages with them! There is also a lot of information about the production, the machines, the materials used, the industrial and military standards and much more - a valuable treasure trove.
The book is available e.g. at amazon or here for buyers outside Germany: https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/books/deta...-das-maschinengewehr-34/hnum/11755797?lang=en
I have photographed a few pages and I think they speak for themselves...
