Anyone know who could straighten out this firing pin from my pistol? I haven’t been able to find an original replacement. Tom Heller said he had some but hasn’t answered me back in several months.
I think that this is an easy fix. If it is inserted in a three jaw chuck it can be gently squeezed into alignment without breakage. A heavy duty lathe chuck or larger drill press chuck should do it. A small chuck on a drill may do it but it will be more difficult to apply pressure evenly. Some chucks are releaved at the bearing surface. Use one with defined corners. Maybe wrap the pin with masking tape to protect it. May take some experimentation due to the taper of the firing pin.
Alternately I think this could be done using a collet in a lathe.
