This helmet I recently obtained from forum member Amberg

Like the title says, this helmet started his life as a M35 in WH green later it was overpainted in LW grey, a conversion that isn't often seen.
The helmet also has shrapnel damage, the liner is bloodstained, most likely the wearer didn't survive the impact, alas the name "Schmidt" is way to common to attempt any further research.
Also a nice detail is the name also is visible underneeth the overpaint.

That's a great helmet Peter! Note that the name in the helmet is in there twice: once probably in black on the original early factory color, and again in white over the later, likely 1943 or later, overpaint.

Yes Bruce98k, it looks like a piece of shrapnel flew through his face first and then exited the helmet.
