Hi guys,

I just won this nice lot of covers for only $140. I could pick out:

•Brass is for American Krag
•Center left I believe is K98k
•Bottom right I believe kar 98A or Polish
•Oilers are for m1 carbine and Krag

I don’t know:

•The top two
•Bottom left

Any ideas?

Thanks,
-Danny

Top left steel knurled with the little clip looks Finnish. Right under it is German K98k, “2nd pattern”. Lowest one on the right looks Kar.98a to me, or could be Polish perhaps.

K98K cover was one of the ones I wanted. I don’t own any type two’s.

The type two’s look a lot more cheaply made. Comparing them to the nicely machined type ones. Looks like the arm is stamped and braised. Were these made during the war years? For rifles that never got retrofitted with for a sight hood?

Thanks for the Finish info. I’ll read into that.

Thanks,
-D

EDIT: 100% correct, top left is for the Finish M39 rifle. One more down!

If the lower left one has a brass cap soldered to a steel arm, it may be for M1909 Argentine long rifle, (rifles made by DWM 1910-1912). Liberty Tree offers similar as such,(sorry, fingers too fat to copy the link) I have one, but IIRC, I got it from Marcus. I’ll have to look at it to see if it has any of the usual Argy marks, (hat, clasped hands, cornucopia). I haven’t seen much Turkish stuff, so Mike may well be correct in his assessment.

Bottom left is Argentine M1909 Mauser. May have a serial number on the front end.

I think that looks right. Thanks!

I think they’ve all been solved. Thanks everyone!

I’ll post some photos of them. If they have interesting markings.

Probably that possible K98A or Polish one.

I’d be curious about the bottom right as well. The Polish ones I’ve seen tended to be brass. This one looks to be made of a more steel looking material so I am leaning towards Kar98a. The markings will be the ultimate deciding factor.

Also the Polish ones in my collection have a letter M stamped inside of a triangle on the side, which I don’t see here.

Nice win!

I agree. He’ll know with markings but my first thought was 98a from the material.

This one definitely looks like it’s for the Argentine M1909 Mauser.

Real nice shape K98K type two hood. I am assuming these are later made ones? Late 1930’s or 40’s for rifles that never received the updated hood? Since they have a stamped “hinge” that’s been brazed on.

Comparing this style to the earlier milled version.

As expected, a really nice K98A hood. Marked:

•“L.O.U.” Or “L.O.D”

•Nice imperial crown marking on top.

Hi, I have a Polish Wz98 - I have purchase 3 different muzzle covers for the rifle. Not one is correct.
Would you have pictures of different options and possibilities?
Thank you.
