A guy posted this on fb. I have never seen these but I'm thinking they may be legit. The construction is very similar to Zf4 covers. What do you all think? Anybody ever seen this before?

Matt contact Wolfgang he and his brother Thomas have a set of covers for ZF41 that they thought could be legit but I can't recall if there like this set .
That set sure looks very convincing and legitimate imho . Did You buy this set or are they someone else ??

Construction looks period correct. Perhaps an early accessory not made in large numbers, like monopods and rear sight covers. Odd they would escape notice for so long with the hundreds of thousands of hours I know just the 3 of us have searched for sniper related items. A first for me also

I like the hole and radiating lines from the lathe spindle holding the wood stock to make the plug. The two blackened rivets look like PRYM snaps, too. Is conceivable this was a "special order" item made up by a field armorer, etc. for a German sodat whom was particularly proficient with his scoped 'K, too...

Interesting... I never understood why there were no covers for this scope type.....I guess they figured the shields were sufficient....

At best a field replacement for lost scope cases, at worst someones invention. It would not make sense to me to have lense covers with which you cannot fit the scope to the can, where would you put the covers if you don't have the scope on the rifle? It would only make sense if you lost the scope case. Also, the ZF41 was quite short lived, and I don't think anyone would introduce leather covers for it officially if it anyway was out of service.
Remember there are nations which used the ZF41 post WWII officially (such as Norway). It could possibly be an invention by one of these nations.

Hi there. I pretty much agree with what has been said. This kind of protection is incompatible with the box which was already used as very effective protection. Moreover, no reference is made to such an accessory. This should have been mentioned in the manuals of the time. I don't think this is original

I feel the cover would be perfect for this application, dsm34/zf41

These look post war made up to me. The wood plug looks more suited for a rubber eye cup and not a steel rain shield.
