Late German blued K-block VIS with offset slide legend

This pistol was recently purchased by a friend of mine. After having it inspected in hand I asked him for pictures as well as permission to post them in here. Attached is what I was provided.

I cannot recall ever having seen a Radom VIS pistol with a slide inscription that was so much offset to the right that it protrudes into the slide checkering. Did someone else see this before?

Also I noticed a pin at the the very front of the slide just below the barrel which was neatly filed to be flush to the slide. I assume this might be a late war feature anyway that I had not noticed on others before since this one might be a bit sloppier than others, but just to have it mentioned.

Thanks in advance!

love it ! cant say ive seen one where that slide legend went into the serrations either. Great example you seem to have a knack for having great stuff thrown at you...

As mentioned in the starting post this is not my pistol. It belongs to a friend of mine, I’ve had it in hands some time ago and recently he sent these pictures to me to post them on forums.

* Slide pin pins the slide bushing for the barrel.
* All VIS's have them; most hidden better than this one.
* 2/K's provide some interesting non-standard variations to say the least.

Über cool late Steyr P35(p). My guess is slide was not lined up properly when the legend die was applied. However, this piece was made shortly after the "bnz" marked slides terminated. I think the "bnz" markings were hand applied... so perhaps there was something wrong with the machinery to apply the standard legend and pistol posted by the O.P. indicates maybe it still had some issues?

Dang! That’s some neat “slop” there. What an interesting pistol.

Nice photos too. They really show good color on what things should look like.

That is a really tough to find variation in incredible condition!

I have seen some phosphate finished pistols with slide pins like that. They were so poorly finished it looked like the slide was cracked.

Very very cool vis. Once again I think this is a prime example that shows that rush the factories were in by the end of the war something like this would’ve been chucked in the scrap bin early war.

Very cool example. Definitely shows that towards the end “anything goes”, as long as it gets to the front.

Unfortunately I do not have pics of it, I saw it at a show a couple years back and the owner was unwilling to sell it at the time or else I would have purchased it.
