Kar98k Early Style Muzzle Covers

Hey Gents,

Just wanted to bring to the attention of those who are not yet aware but Pre98 added a bunch of the earlier style K98k muzzle covers that wrap over the top of the front sight post with the little flip up cap (not the latter simplified rubber cap that just goes over the bore opening). I don't know if it's a fair price but they appear legit and are stamped with a Waffenampt.

I know y'all like rifles on here so you'll know how to best proceed I just wanted to share the link for all to have access to.

Hey easy fellas, I said I didn't know if it was fair. Just wanted to share the information, but if it's highway robbery then now more people (myself included) can be all the wiser

Oh no worries kru, I knew it wasn't a malicious comment. I just wanted to pour cold water on the idea of me saying it's a fair deal.

Thing is about these online merchants is that it's easy to find and buy what you are looking for, but convenience also comes at a higher market premium!

All my opinions: this kind of bullshit is destroying our hobby. It is done by those who seek immediate excessive profits and could care less about the long term stability and long term market. Who pays $130 for a $50 (retail) muzzle cover? Someone in this hobby long term or short term? An "investor"? Someone with more money than sense? While none of us would pay this for a muzzle cover, the problem is those out there who find one and do a google search to get a value. You know these nitwits. They roam the shows and you make a fair offer of $50 and they laugh and tell you that you're ripping it off because "the dealers sell these for $130!" So the hobby suffers, the market suffers, we suffer. I guess since I have many such things I should be happy. But I'm not. I don't want our hobby destroyed by profiteering, carnival barking, humping, and bullshit.

Think Grey Blanket, Pre98, Whittman, Legacy and a a few who vacuum any matching bayonet they come upon to list for sale at a huge markup.

I have a few of these in my collection they even have the serial number of the rifle that was on it. That must make these worth at least $400 a piece right? You can find unit marked Gew88 muzzle covers for the same price tags, and those are actually pretty scarce to locate nice.

You have to really read IMA’s description’s. They use snazzy words, and fluff. I think these are good to go though.

I got a couple, of their “marked” ones. They were about $40(?). Just a few months ago.

One was entirely in the white. Other one was nasty, brass brazed repaired, real ugly. Sent that one back, got a mint one, it had a black enamel type paint. Think French WWII rifles. Not sure if the paint is German WWII, it peels easily.

But, I got both for only around $80. Pre-98 is priced wicked high.

Sounds like members posting here suffer from collectors entitlement like a bunch Gen Zs more so than free enterprise market, lol

If you don’t like small internet businesses that’s fine! But remember in the Western Free World you can simply change the channel at will and move on! So happens I spent lower market values of $40 on supposedly marked K98k early model muzzle attachments to only receive garbage!

Honestly don’t understand the demonization posts!? I don’t have a dog in this fight beyond Pre98 actually has extremely rare proof marked items not commonly found!

Maybe they see higher values in those extremely rare proof marked items worthy of higher price values? If you don’t that’s fine!

Demonizing I as a troll for posting an opinion is typical fascist leftist ideology! ESAD!

Its our family of collectors looking out for each other, and hopefully keeping people from getting ripped off by carnival barkers like Pre-98 and his over priced stuff.

Yeah, plenty are stupid enough or flush enough to pay and not care, but like Hambone says, guys like this are killing the hobby. Young collectors don't even start anymore, because who the (I have a small penis) (lol, this platform really hates the "F" word!) as a 20-something student can afford the ridiculous prices, and if they don't start, this generation of collectors are going to croak with a bunch of stuff no one wants, because there's no collectors to buy it...

We just had this discussion between a few dealers at the Chickasha show, prices are ridiculous, and guys like this jacking prices up on stuff are killing the whole collecting thing.

Plus in this forum we welcome a free flow of ideas, so if guys want to post about a notorious ripper-offer, and discuss their ridiculously priced wares, we are free to do so.

Of course you are free to object, its what we'd expect from what appears to be a shill...and guys are free to counter object your objections. There is no protection of the sacred cows like on other forums, which ban you if you criticize one of their sponsors/sacred cows.

If current “hobby” collectors croaks then market will balance out cheaper for newcomers! Free enterprise has ups and downs unpredictably.

If any of you believe posting silly negative opinions will actually influence today’s hobby market comes across unprofessionally and insignificant IMHO!

Instead of aggressive negative hype maybe point original poster towards sources provides similar collector, sorry hobby items at hobby prices you prefer?

Just don’t care for all those long term member trolls post only negativity with no solutions or resources!

If you don’t like it here, you might take your own advice in post #15, & “change the channel”.

A Troll is someone like yourself who jumps in on an old thread, & makes antagonistic posts just to get a response, like your posts #11, 14, 15 & 17. I get that it’s the full ‘buck moon’ tonight, but don’t you have a life? The adults in the room do…….
