Kar 98A Primer

Ernie, for what it's worth, he has said (on his supporter podcast) he realizes there are issues with his Gew 88 episode and desires to redo it. His problem is, published data all says what he said earlier, and people who posess differing data aren't sharing. You have said elsewhere that you have observational data on a lot of 88's, and while I'm no expert your comments seem to hold water to me. The problem for C&rsenal is that they don't have access to that data. No one has published it, and none of it has been shared with them. I'm sure they'd love to have a conversation with you and then put out that data if you were willing to share it with them.

A friend runs a major business , most of his dock workers have degrees , a few with masters . For many a college degree has nothing to do with if they are smart .
As someone who graduated in the early 00s I can tell you that going to college was push hard on us. Not just college but getting a 4 year degree.
Now it seems it has swung almost to the opposite. Getting a 2 year technical degree or just becoming an apprentice of sorts is what they are pushing on the youth around here now.

am teaching a friends 18 yo kid about working on cars , he is the first to show any interest . It is hard . He knows so little , like there is air in tires ? You can change your own oil ? No problem solving skills at all , they just try and look it up on their phone . That is why the bad internet info is so harmful .
As someone who does "try" to work on their own stuff and vehicles. I find YT to be a wealth of info. If you are ambitious YT has a video about anything you want to repair. No more Chilton manuals ect. Heck I had to replace the clutch in my washer this year. There's a video for that in YT as well. We all start somewhere I fell the Internet can be an awesome tool for the youth to see it done and be like sheet that don't look bad I can do that. Just my 2¢s

I can vouch on the 4 year degree crap that was pushed on us having graduated in 2013, I went for 1 year, said screw that and got a welding degree.

100%. There is a place for college, but not everyone should go. I'm a poster child for when college is appropriate. I work in finance. I did my 4 year degree, worked a few years, got my MBA and worked my way up the chain and now I'm in a c-suite/executive level position full time and teach MBA classes part time. I've done the teaching (14 years now!) so that they are hearing from someone with one foot in the "real world".

I am a very vocal advocate for trade schools and feel like a lot of parents do their kids dirty by forcing college on them. Make them have a plan; trade, military, 4 year college-- but don't force college as an absolute.

Anyway, we are going way off topic here...... Lol. Back to guns!

Wanted to post this when it was posted for patrons last week for review by you guys. Othais said as much as he would like the input it is a specific patreon perk. Fortunately for you guys it’s literally only a dollar a month! His next video will be the Kar 98b. Enjoy!
Thanks for sharing, I am (still) yet to add some of those to the collection

I think the main issue with all these you tube programs is getting the best sources of info for the multitude of weapons covered. No one resource can cover all the details they attempt to provide on so many different weapons, and so many of the available printed relative resources have bad or outdated info that gets perpetuated. I do like the interest they garner for the future of hobby at least. Getting everything correct can be a daunting task. This forum would be tops for the German weapons info at least! I see he attempted to address the AZ label in that video to a degree.

I like books for reference material. I have only ever been on the u tubes to repair bmw motorcycles, and I prefer old printed manuals for that too. Must be an age thing.....

No doubt about finding the resources, they go to great lengths to get everything they can on whatever they’re covering. They spend thousands on books every year, not to mention people that are in europe that are willing to help dig through the patent archives. He pays for them to do that as well. Just take a look at their section on revolver patents!

I am glad you all enjoyed this post and a lot of people got to give their opinion . My point was I do a lot of things besides guns . I have done nothing with the Gew-88 in the last 20 to 25 years . All the info I put out dates from that time period . The only new thing I learned since then was a ground of wedge screw was the original design way to do the charger guides , besides welding which came later??? a repair ?? . During that time many bad books and articles came out using old bad info . It gets tiring fighting that , but I did try and help those who needed it . Everything I ever said has been proven to be correct on real guns and ammo . I have helped people here on loading for their military rifles and civilian rifles . I still see the old J and S BORE crap still being posted . I did identify the small CZ barrel Gew-88's before they were imported , and tell about the bore . Sorry to be out of touch , with Trump in power I had to go and check locations for three new wells on one of my properties . Load up a new round for one of my custom cal rifles to test on hogs [ it worked great ] . And now I am going to teach my 18 yo helper how to repair a Ford F-150 4x4 front hub .
