K43 w/questions

I have recently acquired a k43ac45, grandpa gifted to me from his father. Grotesque in its sporterized condition, it should be a crime for what has been done to the stock. But none the less I know it's a "last ditch rifle" with a forward lug. Sheet metal is shot, not a shooter, and from here on out will be another wall hanger. Currently looking for a decent stock replacement other than fox. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Hello! Please share some pictures of the rifle with us!

Correct, theirs a hair line crack
How about posting a pic or two? Otherwise it's a guessing game for those reading this.
The ends/edges of the formed stamped housing meet in the lower center of the rear of the housing and this broken "line" is often confused as being a crack when in fact it is not, but
it is rather how the final product appears.

I believe you are right, after looking at it a little more carefully. I think it is decent shape, definitely used but not broke.

Here are 2 pictures had to zoom them so they would load.

So I guess back to the other issue, any place or chance of getting a forward lug stock replacement besides fox? Thanks for all the answers so far everyone.

Here is current condition, after some thinking might just keep as is. It was a vet bring back with no import marks. So why not keep it as GI intended. Definitely different but still a piece of history. Thanks again everyone

Ech, that exposed gas system would bug me to no end. Matching or not, the stock is trash now.

Get a repro stock and some replacement metal for the bits that were cut off. It will take some doing, but it's far from impossible.

Has anyone ever dealt with sarco? I've thought about contacting them about the forward lug stock. Either that or make one myself.

You can use the rear-lug stocks with the dual-lug receivers. When they made the change to the stocks they made the receivers with two notches, so they could take either the new stocks or the existing supplies of older stocks. If you have one of the late war Walther stocks with the lug forward it has to go in a dual-lug receiver, but a dual-lug receiver can go in whatever stock you can find. For this reason most of the repros are the rear-lug version.

It is a late war Walther. I'll just have too see under the stock to make sure it's dual. Thanks for that I had no idea.
