Israeli FN k98 Mauser

I hoping someone can help me understand what I have. Got it back around 1983 or so. Shot it around maybe 20 times over the years. I see in the pics what my eyesight missed over the years. What looks like rust on the receiver is actually Cosmoline. It scrapes off with my thumbnail to reveal the bluing underneath. The stock appears to be still soaked in oil?
I've done some research online, but I am more confused now than when I started.
The bolt matches the receiver. No other parts match of course. No bayonet, no sling, just what is pictured. The barrel is hard to get a picture of. I think it is an Israeli FN converted mauser.

Welcome,
& you’ve come to the right place to get some answers & mostly no BS.
More& better pics will tell, it may be an FN contract rifle made for the IDF, the markings we can see, the style of the rear sight, looks like it says ‘Fabrique Nationale…..’ on the siderail lead me in that direction.
if you can take pics outdoors on an overcast day, it really brings out the details, will improve the feedback you get.

Welcome Darin Humphrey,
I've moved your post over to our Postwar forum (where you're seeing it now) for more exposure and a higher likelihood of getting accurate answers.
