Interesting Move-Werke Ks98

A very interesting Ks98 that I just acquired! It is a Move-Werke and has no other markings except for the manufacturers mark. No proofs or acceptance so I would assume a commercial or private purchase? The most unique aspect of this piece is the grip panels which are horn? I have not been able to find any reference to horn being used as a grip material on other Ks98's What do I have here?

Thanks!!

Rick

It could be too early plastic material or horn as mentioned, celluloid has similar structure. Should be visible on inner part, interesting piece early war piece probably, the frog is a dress one same as the NCO Trodell probably. So i would tend here to Extra KS98.

Thank you Andy! I was wondering the same as maybe early celluloid. With myself being a knifemaker by career I have worked with alot of horn in making handles on knives. It has the same type of luminescence as horn, however I know that some of the early plastics can have some of the same characteristics. I hesitate to attempt removing the grips to know for sure however! Do we know what unit from the Trodell?

This Trodell is pictured on B.Karem new reprint on pg.130 as Imperial peacetime era used by prussian infantry NCO.
