I bought this at a show for a good price recently. I've never seen a duffle-cut fix like it before, so I thought I would share. Of course it's a shame that someone would employ such a glaring fix, and I know it likely affects value a great deal. At least it's really stable!
The rifle is a non-import-marked byf 42 that is all matching and correct, except the bolt is a mismatch. The bolt parts, however, do match themselves. The rifle has an original rod and came with a very nice sling that is stamped dkk 44. The bore is very good -- it's a little dark, but should clean up well.
The stock has a thin coat of old varnish on it. Any ideas on how to take that off without harming the original finish?
Thanks in advance for any replies....
