Kind of a terrible pic ( edit: as far as ID'ing the gun goes) but I'm going to hazard one of the small ring actions the Ottomans used, customized as Gerst pointed out. The ejector box is wrong for an m90 so my guess would be a m93. I'm going small over large ring based purely on looking at the width of the receiver ring and the width of the action behind it, but again it's not a great pic so ymmv on that .

Hey all. Does anybody know what the “H” means on this BNZ 4 K98 pic? Have more questions and pics, dependent on any answers. Thanks!

Yes you should start your own thread, but the “H” means that the rifle was made for the ARMY, or in German:’Heer’. ‘L’ or ‘M’ would indicate that a rifle was made for the Luftwaffe or KriegsMarine (air force or navy)presence of the letters varied over time & among manufacturers. At some times the H was larger or smaller as well.

Jarhead, you’ll probably get a better response if you start a new thread

Cool thank you. Trying to see how to start a thread. This is the “wife gone rogue” helping my husband ask questions. I’ll relay answers. We appreciate your response Sir. Regards

to ‘rogue wife’ :
Welcome & thanks for helping him out.
if you click on the banner above for ‘home’ or ‘forums’, you’ll see a list of sub-fora, scroll down to the second group, “Mauser rifle discussions” click on ‘Nazi era’ ( the subject rifle fits there). When you open that, in the upper right there will be an orange button ‘start new thread’. The software will display a group of similar recent topics, if his questions aren’t answered there, scroll down further to start the new thread. Ask away. we LOVE photos, but you’ll need to resize them to less than 1mb each in order to post them here,( software limits the size, as everything is archived) or post them to imgur or similar service then include a link in the new post.
hope this helps!

Not the greatest photo, but after zooming in and looking at the action. I'm just going off the rifle having a thumb cut out on side of the action. I really feel like the rifle is a customized Ottoman 1893. At the same time it looks like there's a magazine cut off button by the bolt. So it could it be an updated and customized post-WWI Ottoman 1893.
