Hensoldt&Wetzlar Dialytan 4X scope

A friend of mine inherited a Model 70 Winchester rifle made in 1947 that has a Griffin&Howe scope mount with a German scope,serial #11107..The only markings are the serial # and Dialytan 4X on the side and Hensoldt&Wetzlar on the round dial on top of scope. The scope has a DOT with a horz.&vert. line as the aiming point inside scope. Any way to determine if it's prewar,wartime,postwar???.There are No military codes,waffenamts, etc. that I can see. The scope lense cover is 2 pc. black leather caps with a strap.No markings on covers.Someone told him the covers were made in a KZ camp during the war(just by how the stitching was) . His Father was stationed in Germany after the war. I'll try to post a couple pictures ...

Thanks Vaughn99, I took a couple pictures. Any way to tell if cover is wartime? There are NO markings on cover, the Germans usually marked everything...Any input as to value of just the Postwar H&W scope with the cover?

pics are very small but scope is post war and mount appears to be of the Jaeger sporter variety. by the small pics for some reason the scope covers look to be bigger in diameter than scope need. you might get 350.00 for everything + shipping. unless better pics show other wise.

Thanks Vaughn99,I'll enlarge the pics abit. The mount is a Griffin & Howe , the rail is attached to a Winchester Model 70 (1948 vintage),They made the scope mounts for M1 Garand during the war. The covers fit tight, I took the picture at an angle and it makes them look too big.
Thanks for your input, I'm just trying to get a feel for what the scope&cover might be worth by themselves.. The rail is permanately attached to the Winchester, so the ringsmount would have to be removed from scope if it' s sold seperately.It's not my rifle/scope , just trying to help my friend get a fair price for everything.

well now that i can see the Griffen and Howe mount thats worth a bit of doe alone probably 400 for mount as thats what Griffen and Howe asks now plus they charge to install of about 250 i think. you have the 26/27mm rings that they no longer offer might get a bit more or swap with a persion who wants 26mm for 1 inch if your buddy needs to use a more common USA made scope or upgrade to the 30mm as they offer them. for the scope see them all the time on ebay run the mill 200.00+shipping. the scope covers have no marking like you mentined 50-75 as some one might use them on there scope till they find WWII sniper ones the red threading will hurt the value shoud be white or Beige by now from age. so 250-275.00 for scope with covers. I would sell the covers seperately and you might get a bid surprise by the gotta have them bidders and get 100.00+ in the right situation but like i said that red thread stiching might hurt the top potential of these covers or maybe its just the pics as the side view looks white.

Hello,Thanks Vaughn for the info,,I,ll pass it on to my friend and he can decide what to do.He doesn't want the rifle or scope , I had advised him to sell it as a complete package since it was already set up.Rifle/scope were on consignment locally and he turned down an offer of 1600.00 for everything because someone told him the scope/cover were WW2 era and worth 1000.00 alone.
