Help with suffix ID

Primarily I collect Lugers but this 1917 Gew 98 recently came my way and I could not pass it up. The suffix letter is a little different than what I am used to. I am pretty sure it is a P but would like to confirm that if any of you with more experience with 98s would not mind helping out.

Don't think it is p. Possibly an s or v ......? Real experts here will know.

After looking at this again I have to agree it is a small "s". I had originally gone off the deep end looking at older more complicated fonts.

that was my 1st thought, have a P.08 similarly marked, but got lost in rabbit hole while researching…..
