help with KAR rework?

I found this at a show recently, and I'm not sure what to make of it. It obviously started life as a 1918 Erfurt KAR. Most of the parts are Imperial-marked, but it's a total mismatch, except for the barrel and receiver. I'm not sure if the bolt body is German -- the flat part on the bolt knob is not serrated, and any proofs on the bolt body have been scrubbed and a new number stamped. The top of the bolt-release box has a stamp that I'm not familiar with (please see the photo). The front-sight protector is different from the standard KAR one, too.

The way the band springs are configured looks like those of an FN Model 30 Mauser, but I'm thinking perhaps the rifle is some sort of Turk rework. It couldn't possibly be a German rework, could it? I see no stamps that would indicate that. Then again, it has no Turk stamps that I'm aware of, either. It does have a very small import stamp under the barrel by the muzzle that says "Made in Germany." It also has what appears to be a rack number painted on the right butt flat.

Please help me identify this! Thanks in advance for any replies....
