Hello to all!
I have been a guest on the forum for about a year and a member for month or so.
My primary collecting activities were in Lugers and I had gathered up 4 of them.
However, about 2-3 years ago I found out I couldn"t afford any of them. I sold
the DWM 1915, 1920 .30cal and a 1936 S42. All were very nice all matching #
pieces. I'd be lying if I sang the blues about selling them, I did very well on each.
I'm still holding on to a 1906 Commercial DWM 9mm (matching #s)

Recently I came into a couple of k98's:
1. A bnz 42 all matching #'s including the bolt that unfortunately has been
sporterized (nice walnut stock) and the gun has been polished (still in the
white, not reblued) but polishing must have been done with a cotton buffing
wheel because all marks are still sharp.
2. A bnz 45 T block in a phosphate(?) finish. Barrel and receiver match but the
bolt assembly doesn't match the receiver (the bolt is all matching though). The
stock puzzles me. It's not a kreigsmodel as it has a bayonet lug, it also has the
metal disk on the stock for the bolt take-down, however it also has the hole at
the bottom of the buttplate. The two metal band are numbered (matching) and
are held in place by the spring bar. Stock shows wear but isn't broken or cracked.
At a guess, I'd say some serious field time. Lots of dents and dings. I couldn't
find any waffenampts on the stock.

I'll post some pictures of both as soon as I figure how to get some close-ups.

Glad to be on board.

Attached are photos of bnz45.
I'll do the bnz42 tomorrow.
Can anybody shed light on the stock?

That is the incorrect stock. A rifle in that serial range should have a kriegsmodell stock with Eagle/H. Somehow your rifle ended up with a non KM stock with a KM buttplate.
