last year, there was a newspaper article about a Gewehr 98 discovered in an Edinburgh gun shop.

From corresponcence with the museum, I learnt that the rifle is an Erfurt 1906.
They told me that the exhibition should start in may 2023 .
Maybe some of the readers here will manage to go there.

The lives of German soldier Xaver Meyer and Gordon Highlanders Malcolm Hay and Alfred Thom (pictured) would have been lost to history - if not for a Gewehr 98 that came up for sale.
