G98/K98K Conversion, 1915 Amberg

Hi, first time posting here. Thought I might find some answers here regarding this rifle for sale online I saw.

It is a 1915 Amberg production G98 that has been shortened and converted, possibly to a K98K during/pre WW2?

However there's some confusion to me as the rifle still has the original G98 trigger guard, rear sight and stock(?) I don't see any markings indicating a conversion was done to it either. It also has this piece of brass tag attached under the stock with the number "87" on it which I've never seen before.

I guess the question is that: is this rifle a official G98/K98K conversion? and where/when was it converted?

The price is pretty fair and it seems like an interesting piece of history.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

No, it’s just cut down Gew98 in a Chilean 1912 stock.
Thanks for the reply, right, I just looked up the m1912.

So it was probably a private cutdown/restocking, rather than a military conversion right?

Thought I had something interesting here haha.

There was, but they used a front sight base over the barrel, and painted the metal black, and used G98m’s from the SCW, this is a bub job instead, well not that those weren’t, ha.
