I have seen alot of G41 rifles with rails milled into the sight base on some of these rifles. Has there ever been a report or information that any of these rifles were used as sniper rifles?
They did have a special saddle mount type scope mount used with a ZF40. Its the same (more or less) as a ZF41, so I don't think you call it a "sniper" really. They didn't see much use apparently.
There was also an experimental mount using a ZF43(B), but that design didn't make it very far.
There are some pics of field made G41 snipers. I one somewhere of one using a modified Russian PEM setup.
... hey;;... just a quick reply. a pic of two rifles in my collection. the top one takes the zf4 scope mount as on the g43. the bottom takes a very hard to find rail mount. almost identical to the russian pem mount. i will try to post a few better pictures later......... t
yes;.. the handle is on the other side. the top rifle with the zf4 mount is the exact rifle that is pictured in the senich german sniper book and also in the weaver g43 book. really a nice rifle. the bottom rifle;.. one identical to it is also in the senich book. and,, one just sold at the julia auction about a year ago. i have had both these rifle down at the sos a few years ago. ....
