I believe I have nailed down the Si barrel code for Mauser.

I dont know if you have ID'd this but a source document from 1936 lists
"Silesiastahl G.m.b.H., Gleiwitz" as a recurrent suppler to Mauser in this year.

Thought you might need this tidbit.

There is also a listing for "Hagener Gusstahlwerke Remy & Co., Hagen that also supplied
steel components.

The RM value for each supplier is substantial, inferring that both of these firms supplied
large value material.

This one we knew was "R" from the Kreigsmodell book from the document detailing barrel blanks.

Excellent find, - I suspect one of the docs from Speed?

Sure would have come in handy doing the BC study, however with Speed's information guessing would not have been needed.

Interestingly, for Si we first looked at Silesia for a company that fit but could not find any that wasn't highjacked by Poland (many of which still had German owners- often times with US owners to prevent nationalizations of the firms.. )

Although the BC study used in the book was the wrong version, we selected the wrong company for Si (and was wrong on "R" too)- ratehr selecting a company that was centrally located between the two main users of Si blanks, and that had supplied blanks to Mauser for the T-Gewehr during WWI.

Seemed to fit at the time, but obviously wrong when you have original MO docs to source.

Still like to see the stuff we spoke about last time?
