This is an axis partner weapon and not a Beutewaffe. This board may be the closest to appropriate for it though. I bought this carbine 25-30 years ago after reading a classified ad in the KC Star newspaper. I think I actually went to look at a Russian SKS but was offered this. I knew it was uncommon at that time so did not deliberate long before buying it.

my 1st seen as well, suggestive of a 1909 Argentine cavalry carbine. the rear sling termination is interesting, kind of a hybrid of K98k & post war solutions where someone nailed or screwed the tip of the J216 sling to the cutout for the klemmstuck.

Any info on the sling? Those are very particular and people have to make them from other slings. An original is not an easy find since most are made up.

All I know about the sling is that it was on the rifle when I bought it. I knew the rifle was rare. I cleaned it and put it away. I just took delivery of the remainder of my collection that was in storage in Kansas from before I started residency and this one was in the pile.

“I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore…..”

looking around the ‘net a bit, I found this

from looking at these examples, I think that Pisgah’s is at least an original style sling, as these appear very similar. I’d be curious to know how the idea of a side mounted sling came to be, who was first, who copied/improved on who’s ideas. I think the side sling is the feature that most attracted me to K98ks above other bolt action rifles.
