FG42 and its Grenade Launcher

Serial number 1700 featured in vickers guide: ww2 germany volume 2 features the grenade sight notch as well as the enlarged trigger guard.

I notice that it also has a serial number on the trigger block: not always the case, but I don’t know why.
 
This one at the JM Davis arms museum in oklahoma has a type 1 that does not have the grenade sight notch, but does have the extended trigger guard. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find a good picture online to see its serial number. This is a photo a friend took a couple years ago.

Got some info from Ian at forgottenweapons and 3 of the 4 that he has photos/video of are already mentioned here. Serial number 141 is a new one that I haven’t seen mentioned, that one has the grenade sight notch and standard trigger guard.
