DUV 41 Vet Bring Back

I’m pretty excited about this one. No, it’s not 100% matching, but I thinks it has a cool history. I believe this rifle has been stored away in someone’s closet since 1945. I acquired it from OBI, and it had Italian newspaper wrapped around it. I was reluctant about removing the newspaper, but it was so degraded that it crumbled while trying to unpack it. It also came with a capture paper dated July 1945.

I don’t think this thing has been fired since 1945. I also believe that I’m the first person to take the bolt apart since 45 as it was full of a rusty milky oil.
DUV 41, MM bolt. Finish is pretty worn and it has that unmolested look to it. Numbers match on the entire rifle with the exception of the bolt and cleaning rod. Most bolt numbers match with the exception of the safety.

Missing rear tang screw

Hello Big-John,

any chance you can post a clear pics of the rifles serial letter block?? I love DUV rifles and this one is that nice warhorse look!!!!

Thanks
Vaughn

I saw this one, it really turned out to be a nice rifle! When I saw it I was curious if the news paper would have attracted and held moisture all those years, but it looks great. You can really see where the Soldier who used this rifle carried it, he must have had pretty sweaty hands.

here is a pick of the letter block.

and here's the crud that was in the bolt. Still a little encrusted on the firing pin.
