EOD - bombs and bullets
So this all started when I picked up this holster...

Of course once I knew it was German modified, I had to keep it, and then fill it...
I found a guy advertising a German marked M1935A on Gunboards...with two crappy pics. The price seemed good for a German marked 35A, so without further inquisition, I jumped on it.
When I got it, I wasn't happy...someone had polished and refinished the slide...
It was very shiny, and the finish gave it that weird purplish hue, honestly it looked like shite. So I took it home and took it apart. Good news, it was correct, properly German marked on the frame and barrel, and DID NOT have the post war lanyard ring mod, so it was at least wartime correct.
So, naturally what do I do, get a hold of the naked flier, and see what we can do. He says he has been having luck soaking parts in acid to remove finish and lightly etch them. I though that would be perfect, get rid of the purple color, and prep the surface for painting, since all these guns were paint over park anyway....
So he came over yesterday and we boiled it and soaked it. Took it right down to the original park it looked like. Rinsed it water with a little baking soda, then rinsed with plain water, and soaked in acetone to make sure surface was super clean. Carefully oiled the interior, taped off openings, and re wiped outside with acetone, then painted it with Rust Oleum low gloss black Farm and Implement paint....
So here are before pics showing it as I got it, then how it looked after soaking and rinsing. I took the before pics in shite light, so its hard to see just how bad it looked, but it was bad. Oh, and the 3rd pic is the one from the ad, looking at it, to me it just looked like I would expect a 35A with the paint stripped to look, it looked parked to me. The seller did not disclose that the frame had been buffed and refinished...
