Yes, that's also my view. It's salty, but it looks honest.
Edit. Mostly just the front metal and part of the butt plate. Other metal looks pretty good. Stock stamp still looks execellent.
That's what I thought!!! 200 Euros is a absolute steal here in the US. I guess they really kept the price low because of the condition.200 Euros? And you're still asking??
I also think it would clean up nicely with some Kroil and a soft cotton cloth. I've seen what guys on here have done with much worse.
That’s the retail price for a sling ! Otherwise it would be a steal as Jdt says.200 Euros? And you're still asking??

Well that makes more sense. I thought you meant for the rig. That’s the retail price for a sling ! Otherwise it would be a steal as Jdt says.
Whoops lol glad we're all on the same page now. That’s the retail price for a sling ! Otherwise it would be a steal as Jdt says.
I had a 1939 243 all matching with the same type or corrosion.interesting corrosion on barrel band and sight hood. Must have been sitting against a damp wall at one point. Nice rifle!
Thanks Hambone. I let it go , it was auctioned yesterday, I was tied up in a meeting and couldn't bid. Final price including fees was 1100 EUR, less 200 EUR (current retail price of a period sling in Europe), that's 900 EUR for the rifle, which is a fair price.GO, it looks like a nice honest untouched rifle. With just a little conservative care you can clean that rust crud. Just stop cleaning when anything starts to shine. Better to leave original rust / oxidation browning than shine. Use a true copper penny or better, a cut length of small diameter copper tubing, wet with Ballistol, and after some moist Kroil application, to take off that rust scale. Also, bronze wool. Go slow. Cool rifle.
That's a byf, you're biased BruceBuy the damn rifle...killer price.
