BYF 45 in walnut

My byf 45 just came in from the post. As promised, here are some pictures. The rifle is sitting in a nice walnut stock. 47000, no block. Bore is surprising nice, strong lands and groves with good shine. Guess the solider didn't have too much time to abuse the rifle. The weight always shocks me, for sure feels lighter in hand. The safety really doesn't want to engage, which is fine for now, I just use a scrap board. It might go better with some oil, if not, I'll just leave it alone.

Glad to finally add walnut to my collection!

The stock and acceptance stamp on this one are super nice, congrats on picking this one up! I really do enjoy the look of the walnut Kriegsmodells, definitely hope to find one for myself in the future

very nice example.. the poor tool work and mixed production of the bolt parts are probably to blame for the safety not working easily. I wouldnt worry about the stock just keep it in a nice climate controlled
safe and you will be fine.

I'd bet it never really worked. Some fresh oil might help, but I'll honestly just leave it as is if that doesn't work. I can always move the cocking piece back with scrap wood for maintenance.

Great rifle and right as rain. Interesting that there’s less chatter than u typically see but no doubt that how it left the factory wit those stamps.

Nice rifle. I like it. Still don't have a walnut 45.in my collection. I'm still looking. There tuff to find like yours.

Congrats! Very nice byf 45 walnut. Pic stickied for ref. I'd leave that safety alone. There's a reason there were spares of these in armorer kits. They break, particularly if not heat treated properly.

Small little update. I wiped down the bolt components with some oil, took off the caked dirt/rust. The safety now fully engages easily in the upright position. Though I didn't push it for the second position, as I felt some resistance. I'll probably still use my scrap board to prop up the cocking piece, just because these safeties like to snap.
