Byf 44 F block duffle cut

Hi all, thought I’d share my Byf 44 F block with a stuttered firing proof. My first byf k98.The rifle has a dot stock thats duffle cut, possibly replaced post war or during the war but im dubious. Bolt also is a mismatch, I assume the bolt pile theory on how it was replaced. Otherwise the bore is immaculate.

does the hand guard sn match the stock sn? or is it ‘dot’ marked? FP: interesting, both marks doubled, stamper on pervitin?

I forgot to mention but on the second episode of that podcast with Bruce and Michael, the question about finger grooves is right as the episode starts.

thx, I got to listen to most of part 2 yesterday, & heard that, tho the tone of the comment made me want to do more research (the books). I could easily see finger grooves being perceived as “non aryan” stylistically & so being out of favor. (decadent, like American jazz music!)

Possibly, imo it would mainly be just extra cost reasons and not much if any benefit since the sling was suppose to the main marksmanship aid. As Michael said the stock on the K98K is the most expensive part to make.

So I took off the handguard and stock, there are serials on the stock that match the rifle which is odd. Maybe a reconstruct fake? I don’t suspect dot would make a stock for a byf 44. The handguard has no serials. The firing proof is odd too

Stock has been replaced as it should have a WaA135 final inspection instead of the E/H final.
Stock is from Brunn I (dot) and is not correct for an Oberndorf assembled rifle.
