BNZ 45 Kriegsmodelle Legitimacy?

Hello, I was wondering about the legitimacy surrounding this K98 being sold as a legit kriegsmodelle model. Says it’s all matching with an unwanted stock, however I’m almost certain that stock has been both sanded and refinished. Floor plate is also BYF marked. What do you folks think?

Reference rifle, it's in walnut tho.

Thanks! Assuming it’s a refinished stock, but correct otherwise, what would a fair value be on something like this? I’m not a late war guy so these are out of my realm.

Found another that has a laminate stock. Tbh I don't know. I would get in touch with Mr. Farb and ask him since he was a 1945 dated rifles collector when he started out.

Alrighty, I might take a risk on it and see. After a little research it looks like BYF phosphate trigger guards and floor plates are correct for this example. Bummer about the stock though.

Agreed it is a bummer about that stock. Prices for C&R rifles have fallen it seems across the board so ya might be able to talk the guy down (wish Marine rebuild M1903's had the same trend! But it seems they are not falling in prices)

It’s actually an auction, but I’m hoping it’ll fly under the radar.

FYI if you post photos of a rifle at auction, it increases the number of people who bid on it and see it - it’s easy to find. That makes it less likely you will win one.
I figured that going into it. But I’d rather have the help of more knowledgeable members than myself to help, and if I lose to one of them, oh well. Atleast I know it’s going to someone who will enjoy and more importantly preserve it.
