Fantastic discovery... hard to upgrade. Should we call it a "box" cut or "duffle" cut. After reading the Kriegs book I'm starting to re-think how they are got here.

Bill-

any chance you can up the size of your pictures? Would love to zoom in more on this stuff :happy0180:

(btw great looking piece from what i can see)

Thanks again Bill a great gun

I see many G43 K43 rifles cut like this, at an angle??

Ive only had one that had the very tip of the wood cut off from under the front band, I didint even know it until after I sold it, or Id have taken a pic or two, never noticed it

most every one Ive seen that was cut, was cut like this at an angle...weird

Im still searching for a bcd I can live with, had a few nice ones, but all had some issue I couldnt live with...still need "the one"

typical features on these that Ive noticed...the barrel showing rough milling marks, muzzle nut, the cosmetic receiver, the bolt carrier with no rib which can also be found cosmetically machined on the outside instead of rough like Bill's rifle...no rhyme or reason that I can see yet either, meaning Ive seen the finely finished ones on later guns, and rougher ones on earlier guns, closed bolt carrier knob, early dust cover...Bill can you show a nice close up of the rail? bcds will have rails with no notches

look for bcd G43s to have markings here and there, carrier with "V" near serial, some without, some marked "b C d" (big "C" ) ...some marked like this one "bcd", small parts proofed with circle V, some will have walther proofed parts....Id be interested to know what the little waffenamt I can see on the trigger is? can you check for me Bill? visible in pic 4 or 5 on the right, top line, in your post

I see the 134 waffenamt also in the 4th pic on the second line, all the way at the very rear of the reciever? a nice close up of that'd be great Bill

Jon, actually the ones you see cut at an angle where the wood is thickest shows that the person that did it knows about wood working. That's a much easier and cut to fix if joint strength is the goal. It isn't as attractive though!
