Astra 43/600 fake birds

No bueno. They are marked with a Waffenamt next to the serial number. Never buy a supposedly German marked foreign contract pistol where they don't let you see the serial number. This one has the serial number covered up and is P dated so was manufactured in 1945. No Spanish pistols were delivered to the Germans after 1944.

I like Astra pistols. They are awkward and art deco but reliable, well made, and tend to be accurate. Determining whether the Germans ever used one is pretty easy. The ones used by the Germans were dated "O" for 1944 and were numbered from 1 to approximately 10500. I cannot remember whether the cutoff was that far or whether it was 10450 or something like that. To the best of my knowledge every one of them has a Waffenamt next to the serial number on the right rear of the frame. It is not complicated like with the wartime Star Model B's. You actually have to find a chart to tell you whether a specific serial number went to the Germans, whether it should be German marked, whether it went to the Bulgarians, etc.

That’s what I figured. Also from what sources I’ve found should only have one mark of genuine and this one is wrong waa number and in the wrong location

That scam was also big with the Star B pistols. Tons of fakes out there and if you don't know the correct serial range it's easy to get taken.
