Nice looking rifle! I wouldn’t be able to handle having that white paint in the top of the receiver markings though…. But that’s just me.

More pictures.

I'm slowly going through my collection removing the white chalk, it was popular years ago.
Good call. It was very popular many years ago, but as mentioned in recent threads… today it’s being used to try and cover up humped serials under the lie that “the rifle is from a old veteran’s collection”.

That's a gorgeous rifle, way nicer than my beater of a byf 43! I really do like the wood on yours and metal is in excellent shape as well.

Beautiful walnut in that stock! Nice example!

Here’s my f block for comparison:

Wonderful example. My dad sent back a BYF 43 in the f block. He picked it up out of the mud in France. Unfortunately, the rifle was lost from the family 40 plus years ago but I remember some details. Every time I see a post about a BYF 43 I get excited that maybe it is the rifle my dad had. As I remember, the rifle had a 3 in the SN, was laminate, as a kid I thought it was pine, had a sling and the bayonet lug was smashed on the front end like someone used a hammer on it. So no cleaning rod. ;) I remember my dad saying he had to take is apart to fit into a wood box. So maybe he was the one who used a hammer on it to but it back together. I never thought to ask.

Very nice! Love the difference between the metal finish, yours being early and my mine later in production.

Great photos . I love seeing the texture off all the parts and you can see how their final finish was applied. They really ramped things up at this point.
