Hi,sellers pictures will get the rifle this week then i can provide more pictures

Hello,

yeah some one moved the scope forward I hope they didn't do this with the scope assembled. the front base looks re-sculpted as the ring from mount doesn't match base even mismatched should still have same contour. the base to receiver holes have been heavily altered probably not original screws. the barrel is missing the sniper serial so not a 44. rear ring and parts look to be BYF44 not BYF43 but since the rings serial doesn't match the rifle that won't help. best tell tale is the serial in on the receiver so rifle is a BYF43 HT. in 1944 k (K) block this serial range was found on the barrel. rifle is post i (I) so it is a HT as setup we see here is a 1944 AJACK setup would not fit on a LT setup.

The Scope & Rings appear to be OK , but as Stana mentioned the Solder has let go from scope tube or been altered by someone . The Barreled Action appears OK and certainly a good restoration project . I do not care for the look of the Front Base it appears altered as mentioned by Vaughn . More detailed photos needed. Best Regards

So you think this rifle is worth "saving" and is it possible to restore ?
br bjarne

my guess was byf44 k block hi-turret with an ajack scope. Not sure why someone would have shifted the scope forward ? Normally its not necessary to move both rings to get a scope to fit. I have no clue whats been done ? But, it was real and worth the $$ and the risk to do something with it.

I will take the job on me trying to restore it!! but i think it will take a LONG time

If you are not going to do it, let me know. I'd gladly buy and restore it (.. and I'm also in Europe)! I guess I have most of the parts around, various stocks, rear sight bases, etc.

Yes I do think it worth the Time & Effort to Restore it . Its a good way to get Yourself into Sniper collecting cheaply . You can take your time and find needed parts . It would be a good experience for you . IMHO I think You should . But if You decide not to there are enough collectors at this Forum that would gladly buy it to restore . Best Regards .

Really appriciate help from forum members!

Lets start!

I cant remove bases from the reciver so i leave them be!
Hard to see but serial number is on the barrel with two letters i think

Front Base has been destroyed on the underside and reattached . If your up to it , it would be a lengthy restoration but if You want a Turret Sniper this is a good way to complete that objective and at minimal cost . Best Regards

thanks for the reply
I want to complete this one!,the barrel is original to the rifle so first i need new frontsight(barrel has not been shortned),and new rear sight base

By the way the scope tube has not been damaged the rings was loose, and i put them back again with no damage on the tube

Here is how i think the front, and rear sight came off

well, Id have to say the rifle is a byf43 so would it have started life as a low -turret ?
Not sure why the inside of the base was milled out ??? Im guessing they took a high turret scope and stuck it in a low turret base >?????? The sites wont be hard to find. I can get you what you need. No issues there.
Id keep the double set triggers. Looks really good on there. Some say there were some converted ??
Who knows for sure.

post a close up of the end of the barrel. where the front site goes on. There is a tiny hole on top where the set screw goes in to keep it in line. Then its soldered on. Same with the rear site assy. .

Hi mauser99

I have to wait three weeks before i can take the rifle home!(permit)then i will post pictures but i could see that the barrel was not shortned
The two triggers are made very good i say with german precision if you ask me!

that's fine... we will get it back together.. Those double set triggers are integral into the original stamped trigger guard. keep it .. very nice job.
I know I can get my paws on all the parts and maybe a stock ?
