42 1940 low level rework?

I Like Bunnies
Hi, I have had this rifle for a while, but haven't posted it here. It's a 1940 42 code, serial "662 k" with several forced matched parts.

The stock has unfortunately been sanded, it is x'd out and renumbered to the gun in the channel. Handguard is mismatched. Both bands are "662", the upper one is scrubbed and renumbered and has the bluing removed all around the bottom.

The entire bolt is renumbered to the rifle, body, shroud, cocking piece, and safety. The face of the cocking piece is scrubbed and still in the white.

The white scrubbed parts are what makes me lean toward rework, why reblue some things and not all that you scrubbed and renumbered?

I know I ran this past a few people way back, but this was many years (like 10) ago.

Anyway, here are the pics.

Jeff

Probably not a low level rework, something higher up. I’m guessing Posen but the stock would have had the markings to prove it, and that’s what lakes depot repairs desirable IMO.

Wow, that was fast!

Damn shame the stock was heavily sanded.

Hey, at least it's not a humper. LOL It was my uncle's for many years, his "representative" K98k for his collection.
