Sadly the frog is broken at the belt loop on it plus it's also 1937 dated so not original to the bayonet but still unsharpened and rather nice imo. If anything stands out let me know. As with my other post I'm not even at a novice level when it comes to info about bayonets. I just know the less rust, matching blade n scabbard and unsharpened blades are the most desirable. :) hope ya'll like it.

The frog is correct, only problem is the belt loop, the leather is in natural color remained not blackened, the frogs were not same dated, so on 45crs could be used even 1935 frog as both parts were separate source delivered to owner, bayonet producers didnt delivered frogs. Here is a F.Herder A.Sn Solingen piece made in 1941 well used.

Back in the day, bayonet frogs cut in this manner were called "corpse-cut" by some collectors. Under the theory that they had been removed in that manner as souvenirs from the bodies of vanquished enemy soldiers. Have no idea if there is any veracity to this theory but have seen quite a number of damaged/cut frogs like this over the years.

Hmm interesting the theory for sure. I could see it being a possibility because usually ya wouldn't want the leather damaged.

Thanks for the information :) does make sense that bayonets and frogs would be separately dated. Kinda like US M1903 rifles having mismatched serialized bayonets to them based on KIA equipment recovery lists from WW1. Rifle and bayonet serial numbers didn't match.
