40crs

As ugly as it is, it does not appear to have been sharpened, but it has had some serious abrasive cleaning applied.

I watch for these based on discussions with the owner of k98.free.fr. He had me bid on one (ebay) for him that was in much worse condition than this. I have always liked the quotes around "crs" like it is not really crs, and the line between the code and the year, like it is a fraction.

Even not extra nice condition is always interesting marking, mainly with the quotation marking around crs code - "crs"/40 and other point of interest even probably missed, is switch the WaA253 to end acceptance by WaA883. The sharpening doesnt looks like fullended in full case, is allways could be found in future better piece.

Thanks for posting Mike. The "crs" > 40 trademark begins in the late e block and runs to the end of 1940 production .......

Ouch. That means I need to be looking for one without the quotes. I have another that is much nicer but it has the quotes also.

No, it could mean that prior to "crs", they were marked P.Weyersberg

That is exactly what it means. No letter block through late e block are marked P. Weyersburg with 40 on the spine. The scabbards P. Weyersberg > 1940
